The most important factor determining the choice of Laboratory furnace (Ash Furnace / Muffle Furnace / Chamber Furnace) is purpose of use the furnace. Purpose of Use is important to determine the maximum operating temperature of the furnace and the size of the inner chamber which is the heating area.

The physical and technical characteristics of the furnace should be explicated after the appropriate working temperature and appropriate working volume are determined. At this stage, insulation, heating elements, electronic temperature control and furnace ergonomics should be considered.

Isolation in Laboratory Furnace (Ash Furnace / Muffle Furnace / Chamber Furnace) Selection

When choosing a laboratory furnace, the points to note about insulation are summarized below;

It is an important point that the insulation is suitable for maximum working temperature. The insulation must be at the optimum thickness in order to ensure that the furnace heat loss and thus the electricity consumption is kept to a minimum and that the heat generation at the surface will not jeopardize the operational safety of the surface.

In furnaces where the insulation thickness is not sufficient, a large number of ventilation hole are encountered in order to keep the surface temperatures low. Therefore, an excessive number of ventilation holes on the surface of the furnace are an indication that the insulation is insufficient. Also cover insulation and cover design are an important factor in overheating of the cover.

MagmaTherm Insulation

In MagmaTherm Furnaces insulation is chosen in accordance with the maximum operating temperatures and it’s used in the appropriate thickness. In this way, minimum temperatures are reached on the surface of the furnace and using the oven is getting easier.

The original cover design also causes a minimum of heating on the furnace door. Because of the proper design and optimum insulation thickness, a small number of ventilation holes is required on the surface of MagmaTherm Furnaces.

Heating Elements in Laboratory Furnace (Ash Furnace / Muffle Furnace / Chamber Furnace) Selection

One of the most important items determining the heating performance of laboratory furnace is the selection of the appropriate resistance wire and the correct design of the resistances according to the furnace.

MagmaTherm Heating Elements

MagmaTherm Furnaces use resistance wires that have been proven worldwide. The correct design of the heating elements is an important part of the effective performance of our furnaces.

Electronic Control Unit in Laboratory Furnace (Ash Furnace / Muffle Furnace / Chamber Furnace) Selection

Our own electronic control units used in MagmaTherm Furnaces are very effective in controlling the temperature. In addition, a variety of features have been adapted on our PID control units with recommendations and requests from end users.

Ergonomics in Laboratory Furnace (Ash Furnace / Muffle Furnace / Chamber Furnace) Selection

Furnaces that facilitate user’s work, increase efficiency and provide safe operation at high level are preferred by users.

Laboratory Type Furnace also called as Table Top (Bench Type) Furnace, Ash Furnace, Chamber Furnace, Muffle Furnace, Tube Furnace, is basically composed of electronic temperature control unit, electrically operated heating elements, heater inner chamber and isolation sections.

The working principle is based on heating the air inside the furnace with the help of heating elements. The temperature control is done with an electronic PID control unit in the furnaces where it is important to precisely adjust the temperature. There is no cooling system in such furnaces, cooling can be done with a fan system which is not very powerful. At the same time, the fan system can be connected to a chimney system so that the various gases, fumes and steam occurred in the furnace are transmitted to the chimney.

Laboratory Type Furnaces can be designed to have maximum operating temperatures between 600°C – 1750°C, mostly between 900°C and 1200°C are used. Because of the insulation applied due to the maximum operating temperatures, the internal volume of the furnaces is small and the external volume is wider than the inner chamber. The internal volume of the Laboratory Type Furnaces can vary from 1 liter to 100 liters depending on the intended use.
